A Presidential relocation to the coast.
President of the Republic Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović has moved into her new temporary office in Split, in the building of the Split-Dalmatia County, where she was welcomed by Zlatko Ževrnja, the prefect of Split-Dalmatia County, and other county representatives, reports Slobodna Dalmacija on August 7, 2015.
“This is the first relocation of the Office of the President, which symbolically encourages decentralization of Croatia because, as I had said in my electoral campaign, Zagreb cannot be the sole centre of Croatia. We must take into account all parts of our country. The intent is to be among the citizens as much as possible, not just in Split but also in other cities, islands, and surrounding counties. This is an example for the government to encourage the decentralization of Croatia”, said the president who was welcomed, in addition to the representatives of the Split-Dalmatia County, by members of the Honor Guard Battalion. Tea Gaberc, the best high school student in Split last year, officially raised the presidential flag.
County prefect Zlatko Ževrnja stressed that this is a historic day for Split and the county, and that the president, by coming to Split, confirms what she had said during the campaign, that she will be the president of whole Croatia, a person full of hope and optimism for better Croatia.
During the next ten days, while the president is in Dalmatia, she will visit a number of events, such as the Sinj Alka, the Boat Marathon, and many others. She will also meet with the representatives of the police unions, women’s associations, associations of war veterans, agricultural producers, islands, etc.
